Jim Kyriacopoulos is Director of Engineering and has served for 17 years in various leadership positions building teams, processes, and standards focused on tower integrity and outstanding structural engineering service for wireless customers. Jim initiated the Crown Engineering Forum in 2001 to help solve issues of consistency and scalability with tower structurals that plagued the industry during periods of explosive demand. Celebrating 16 years of growth and improvement, the combined effort of Crown Castle’s internal engineering teams and multiple consulting firms regularly deliver thousands of structural reports and reinforcement designs each year enabling carrier changes to proceed quickly and with complete agreement among the hundreds of Forum engineers. Currently, Jim is leading another development team with its site set on creating an industry-changing suite of tools that combine all aspects of tower analysis in a seamless workflow and a simplified graphical environment scheduled for release later this year. The natural extension of this effort, and now in early development, is the creation of a systematic approach to mount analysis within Crown Castle. The goal is to offer ever-improving service for the carriers and be ready as codes begin to change.
Jim started his career in defense and commercial electronics developing an extensive background in hardware/system design, industrial experimentation (Six Sigma), and program management working for Raytheon, AlliedSignal (now Honeywell, AMP Incorporated (now TYCO Electronics), and RCA (now Lockheed Martin). He holds a BSME from Lehigh University and an MS Materials Science Engineering from Johns Hopkins University.
