Rich Ruben is Chairman of Sandy Feet Advisors LLC through which he provides advice to private equity funds, Boards of Directors and CEOs. He focuses on the communications, new media, sports technology and healthcare industries. Ruben was Vice Chairman of PEG Bandwidth through the sale of that business to Communications Sales & Leasing (now Uniti Group) in May of 2016. Ruben served as CEO of PEG Bandwidth from 2010-2015. Under Ruben’s guidance PEG Bandwidth went from startup to the fastest growing telecommunications service provider in the country and was recognized in 2014 by Inc. Magazine as America’s 98th fastest growing privately held company.
Ruben has been leading and advising large and small communications, media, technology, healthcare and sports businesses for over 25 years. He was early to the wireless industry where in the late 1980s he directed Bell Atlantic’s strategic planning which led to his role as CFO of Bell Atlantic Mobile in the early 1990s. From that role Ruben led Bell Atlantic’s early M&A expansion in the wireless industry which resulted in the creation of Verizon Wireless. In 1994 Ruben joined Spectacor, owner of the Philadelphia Flyers, and as President of that organization led its transition into Comcast Spectacor, which owned the Philadelphia Flyers, Philadelphia 76ers, Comcast SportsNet and the buildings the teams played in. Prior to PEG Bandwidth, Ruben helped lead substantial growth and create successful exits as CEO of XOS Technologies, WireOne Communications and V-SPAN.
Ruben has served on numerous boards and advisory boards throughout his career including; PEG Bandwidth, V-SPAN, XOS Technologies, Spectacor, FDH Velocitel, NHL Board of Governors (alternate), NBA Board of Governors (alternate), Philly.com, InThePlay, Oasys Mobile, Impact Health, Satori Software and several not for profit organizations.
He started his career with Coopers & Lybrand and has a BA in Economics from Fairleigh Dickinson University, a law degree and an MBA from Santa Clara University and is a CPA. Rich and his wife are empty nesters living outside of Philadelphia.
